The great expectations evaluation
The first part of the gothic horror unit was to have a clear understanding of the great expectations storyline, and how it could be considered as a relation to gothic horror, in order to recreate my own interpretation of Miss Havisham for a continuity assessment and Estella I had to take into consideration the characters backgrounds and how they were described in the novel and the film , this helped me to develop my ideas into a design which was periodically correct.I found looking at how the characters such as Miss Havisham and Estella had been portrayed in TV, fashion film and the novel helped me to brainstorm different ideas to incorporate into my final design , In my own time I research Victorian styled makeup and also created a variety of different designs on face charts in order to give me a clearer idea on which design I would like to develop for my final design.
Once I found an inspiration for my Miss Havisham design which was portraying the character as a melted wax work I was slightly unsure of how to create the effect and what products would be needed. I also became unconfident with how to recreate my hair designs for both Estella and Miss Havisham, After having several tutorials and asking my lecturers for advise, I gained the knowledge I needed and started to practice the design in my own time to become more confident. I also found my design slightly difficult to recreate for my continuity assessment .
I felt I followed the brief well due to it being displayed clearly on my course, meaning I had a clear understanding on what I was learning weekly and what needed to be included on my sketch blog, however I found the work slightly more overwhelming in comparison to my first semester.
