Quentin
character brief
My first character I have chosen to recreate for my chosen TV series, the American Horror story is : Quentin. The character I have chosen Quentin, is an imaginary boyfriend to another created character, Claudia who is fascinated with the supernatural and horror she has not much contact with the outside world. Quentin speaks to Claudia by phone when he is unable to visit her and he also changes according to her mood one day he could look like a David Beckham character or can change into a Pete Doherty figure or slob.

created story line for Quentin
Quentin- after having an interest in the supernatural and horror has become Miss Ladermans latest recruit , the human puppet, meaning Quentin is trapped in his own mind and body and being controlled by Mrs Laderman as a freak and a weapon against Claudia.
After years of not being connected to the outside world except for the likes of Mrs Laderman Claudia starts to go insane believing Quentin is her imaginary boyfriend who changes according to her moods, but in reality he changes due to being controlled by Mrs Laderman which gives the audience the perception of Quentin being a freak .
Before creating my Quentin look and developing ideas towards it I decided to create a brainstorm with all my ideas and designs to develop and experiment with, in order to help create my final design. I found creating a brainstorm helped me with my final design it allowed me to gather my ideas together and combine different elements together in order to create a final design which I was happy with.

Quentin creating character makeup
The photograph shows my final makeup design. I found the makeup design took longer than expected due to the original design around the eyes being slightly different and no looking as good as I expected, therefore I decided to gather images of makeup looks which I thought would work well with my design and combine them together.
In order to create my makeup design, i firstly applied a primer by Illamasqua to the face, followed by a white illamasqua skin base which i applied to the face ears and neck, once the product was even, i then blended the product into the skin using my buffer brush. In order to set the makeup i applied my loose illamasqua to the face.
Next I applied a black supra colour by kryolan to the eyelids and the underneath the eyes, i then used my red from the pallet to create two long thin triangles above and below the eyes, once the triangles looked even i then applied a fake blood to the area in order to incorporate the horror element and for it to resemble a clown.
Finally to complete my look i create a joker like smile, by applying gelatine which i purchased from screen face to the corners of the mouth and extended it up into a thin line. I applied several layers of the gelatine in order to build the product up. Then I applied a dark red and black from my supra colour pallet to the corners of the mouth to add more depth, i used a pink from the pallet to apply colour to the lighter areas of the mouth. To the inside of the gelatine smile I applied fake blood which i dripped down the mouth. Finally I applied blood to and orange textured sponge and applied the product to the outside of the mouth in order to add more texture to the mouth.
I was Generally quite happy with the makeup i created, although i wasn't happy with my first design which i applied to the eyes, i feel my second design worked much better with the overall look.
Final Quentin Design
The photographs are from my final photo shoot for my Quentin character, the photos show the clown / puppet resembled elements which I incorporated into my design in order to relate to my chosen TV series and story line. The 1950s hairstyle and character styling in terms of the clothing , which relates to the setting of the American Horror story TV series.
Here is a photograph of the final Quentin face chart which I designed. In order to create this look I firstly used a grey from my kryolan eye shadow pallet to highlight the convex areas of the face particularly the cheekbones and temples. Then I applied a black from my eye shadow pallet by Kryolan to the eyes and finally completed the eye application by drawing two extended triangles above and below the eyes sing my fine liner brush and red supracolour . Finally to complete my look I applied a red supracolour to the lips which I extended out from the corners of the mouth to create joker like smile, I also applied black supracolour to the edges of the mouth and also underneath the eyes.
I was happy with the outcome of my Quentin final face chart, I felt the makeup application on the eyes and mouth looked neat and also symmetrical. I also didn't apply the blood of the gelatine to the mouth which I will be using as part of my final look .
Here is a photograph of my final hair sketch for Quentin although the design isn't very clear due to it being sketched in pencil, I have decided to style Quentin's hair as a 1950s sleek de parting style using a comb and some gel.
