A late Victorian hairstyle
In my own time I decided to recreate a late Victorian hairstyle, using a sketch from the internet for inspiration and as a guideline. In my late Victorian hairstyle I also incorporated the use of techniques which I had learnt from previous lesson on how the Victorians styled their hair.

The hairstyles in this image I felt conveyed the use of techniques which we had come across in technical hair lessons and also can be clearly recognised as a late Victorian hairstyle due to the hair being considered as more elaborate and the curls shifting from the side of the hair to the back, I therefore took this into consideration when recreating my own interpretation of a late Victorian hairstyle.
In order to create my late Victorian hairstyle I used a paddle brush, hair pins, a pin tail comb and a hair tie in order to secure the hairstyle in place.
In order to create a late Victorian hairstyle I firstly created a bun using the top section of hair, due to the lack of hair the mannequin had I decided to create a Victorian style bun by rolling the sections in order to make the hair appear more full, I also had to make sure the top section was sleek in order for the hair to appear more elaborate .
Next I took the two side sections of hair and created two sculpted curls which I situated around the Victorian style bun. I also had to make sure the side also were sleek to appear more elaborate.
Finally the third section of hair I used to create loose curls and also curls which situated around the bun .
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my late Victorian hairstyle , I felt the hairstyle looked elaborate, however the only thing I would do differently if I were to recreate my interpretation of a late Victorian hairstyle again is to take into consideration the height of the Victorian bun, I felt the bun appeared a little too high in my first attempt at a late Victorian hairstyle.
Ageing the hair
Ageing the hair can be created by using many different products for example: dry shampoo or talc powder. By applying the powder to the roots and brushing slightly through the hair using a comb or brush helps to make the powder cover the hair evenly as well as making the hair appear grey .
Here is a photograph from my Miss Havisham continuity timed assessment, due to wanting to recreate the Dickens character as an older women I felt the technique would be suitable for my Miss Havisham look, therefore in order to convey my understanding of how to age the hair I felt this photograph was appropriate.
