During Fenellas lesson I was given a guideline to recreate on a Jean Paul Gaultiers style of makeup . The theme which the makeup was inspired from was the 1980s, the eye makeup was smoky with an inky eyeliner and extended hues under the eyes. The contouring on the makeup is also very strong and sharp.
In order to recreate the Jean Paul Gaultier style of makeup explained in the guideline, I firstly applied a foundation from my kryolan pallet to my partners face neck and ears and blended the product using my buffer brush.
Once the foundation application looked even I then applied loose illamaqua powder to set the makeup base.
The I contoured the face by applying a summer tan from my glamour glow pallet to the convex areas of the face , such as the jawline cheekbones and temples.
The I used the lightest colour on my glamour glow pallet to act as a highlighter, highlighting the lighter areas of the face.
Then I applied a brown from my eye shadow pallet to the eyelids up to the brows, I also used the brown eye shadow to apply shadow near the bridge of the nose .
Next I applied a darker brown from my illamaqua neutral pallet to highlight the eye sockets. I also used this colour to extend the hues under the eyes.
In order to separate the browns I applied a small amount of white from my illamaqua neutral pallet to the eye lids and underneath the brows
Finally to complete my Jean Paul Gaultier inspired makeup look I used a small amount of water and my black eye shadow from my kryolan pallet to create an inky eyeliner which I applied to the outline of the eyelids.
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my Jean Paul Gaultier inspired look, in order to improve my look I feel I could have styled the eyebrows and applied a gloss to the lips.
In relation to gothic horror and our latest part of the unit, Claudia Quentin and Miss Laderman I feel the makeup such as the such contouring and bold eyes can be used as either a sense of mystery or a romantic link between the characters Quentin and Claudia .
I created another face chart inspired by Jean Paul Gaultiers Smoky eyes and red lips makeup. I created this look by Firstly contouring the face using my glamour glow pallet. Next I used my the brown pallet and cream from my Illamasqua neutral pallet to bring out the eyes, using the brown and black to highlight the eye sockets and the white to highlight the brows. I also used the brown to highlight around the nose. In order to complete the smokey eye look I applied black supracolour to the eyes to act as eyeliner and eyelashes. Finally I applied from my kryolan lip pallet a bright red to the lips. I also used the silver from my Illamasqua liquid metal pallet to highlight the top lip and the corners of the eyes.
Here is my attempt at recreating Jean Paul Gaultiers style of makeup which I applied onto the face chart. Firstly I applied an olive coloured foundation from my Kryolan pallet to my skin and used the buffer brush to blend the product into the skin. Next I applied a brown from my neutral illamasqua pallet to my eyelids and a black to highlight y eye sockets, I extended the brown up to my eyebrows in order to create an exaggerated catwalk smoky style eye makeup, I then brushed the same colour through my eyebrows to make them appear darker. I then used a liquid metal silver from my Illamasqua pallet to add colour to te corner of my eyes. In order to complete my eye makeup I finally applied some mascara to my lashes and a gel eyeliner to my eyelids. Next I applied a brown from my glamour glow pallet to contour my face, a pink to highlight the top of my cheekbones and a white to act as a highlighter highlighting the lighter areas of my face. Finally in order to complete my look I applied a red from my Kryolan lip pallet and outlined the lips with a liquid metal silver from my llamasqua pallet.
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my Jean Paul Gaultier inspired makeup, however I feel I could have made the eyes appear more smoky by layering up the brown and black on my eyelids .
In relation to gothic horror I feel the dark eyes and piercing red lips tend to convey elements of the gothic style of makeup, in terms of romance.
Here is another face chart which I created in order to convey Jean Paul Gaultier's style of makeup this time I focused on the smoky eyes and applied a lighter colour to the lips. Firstly I contoured the face by using a summer tan from my glamour glow pallet. Next I used a black from my neutral illamasqua pallet to highlight under the eyes and the eye sockets, applying a light brown from my Kryolan eye shadow pallet to the eyelids. In order to complete the eye makeup I applied a black supracolour to act as an eyeliner and mascara. Finally I applied a light natural colour from my camouflage pallet to the lips to complete my look.
Here is my attempt at creating a Jean Paul Gaultier inspired makeup using my face chart as a guideline , firstly I applied an olive coloured foundation to my skin and blended the product using my buffer brush, the I contoured face by using a summer tan colour from my glamour glow pallet, a pink to highlight the lower parts of my cheeks and a white to highlight the lighter areas of my face. Next I applied a neutral colour to my eyelids and used and a rounded blending brush and a black my illamasqua pall to really work the black into he sockets of my eyelids. I then brushed a brown from my neutral illamasqua pallet through my eyebrows to make them appear darker. Finally to complete my smoky eye look I applied a gel liner to my eyelids To complete my look I applied a gloss to my lips.
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my Jean Paul Gaultier inspired makeup I feel I could have applied more black to my eye socket to make the eyes appear darker.
Here is a photograph of the Jean Paul Gaultier inspired makeup which I found as an inspiration.
I like how the eyes are the main focus of the makeup and how the rest of the makeup is applied naturally.

Here is a face chart which I created inspired by Vivienne Westwood's work. Firstly I applied a bright pink from my Illamasqua blush pallet to the cheek bones and extended up towards the temples. Next I applied a turquoise and green from my supracolour pallet to the eyelids extended up to the eyebrows. Finally I applied a light natural colour from camouflage pat to the lips to complete my look. This look was quite simple but due to the amount of colour incorporated into the design this tends to work well.
Here is my own interpretation of Vivienne Westwood's work, using my face chart as a guideline. I firstly applied a olive colour foundation to my skin and blended the product out using my buffer brush. Then I used a dark pink from my Illamasqua blush pallet to my cheekbones and temples. I found I had to apply plenty of the dark pink to my cheeks in order to be seen photos. next I applied a turquoise supracolour to my eyelids which I extended up to my eyebrows. Finally I completed my look by applying a gloss to the lips.
I was very happy with the outcome of my Vivenne Westwood style makeup, the only improvement I feel I could have made was by layering up the pink a little more on the cheekbones.
Here is a photograph of the Vivenne Westwood makeup which I used for inspiration, I really like the choice of colours used, they work well together.

Here is another face chart I created which was inspired by vivenne westwood's makeup. I firstly created this look by applying a grey to the convex areas of the face then using a white from my glamour glow pallet to highlight the lighter areas of the face. I then applied a blue and grey to the eyelids and an orange and yellow just beneath the brows, I used different colour supracolour to bring out the eyes. I then applied a red supracolour to the lips taking into consideration not to make it look too neat and to make it look rough. Finally I used a fine liner brush and black supracolour to outline just above the brows , the lips and around the eyes.
I was happy with the outcome of my face chart I felt it looked like the Vivienne Westwood style of makeup which I used as a guideline.
After creating a face chart I then decided to try recreating the makeup. I firstly applied a white Illamasqua skin base to my face to make it appear pale, I made sure I blended the product in well by using a buffer brush. Next I roughly applied red supracolour to my lips and outlined my lips with a fine liner brush and black supracolour. I then roughly applied a turquoise and a green to my eyelids and an orange and yellow over my eyebrows. Finally to complete my look I used my fine liner brush and black supracolour to outline the eyes
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my Vivienne Westwood inspired makeup, at first I thought it looked a little rough but once I completed my look . I felt it worked well and fitted Vivienne Westwood's style makeup
I feel this style of makeup would work well in gothic horror for shows such as the American Horror Story season four the freak show due to it being quite colourful and fun with an element of mystery.
Here is the Vivienne Westwood's style of makeup which I used as a guideline , I really like the colours used and how the complexion is pale to make the colours stand out more. I feel the thick black lines complete Vivienne Westwood's makeup.

Here is a face chart which I created inspired by Alexander McQueen's style of makeup. Firstly I used a grey from my Kryolan eye shadow pallet to highlight the convex areas of the face and used a white rom my glamour glow pallet to highlight any lighter areas of the face. Next I applied a natural lip colour from my kryolan lip pallet to the lips. I then applied turquoise supracolour to the eyelids. Finally to complete my look I used black supracolour to shape the eyebrows and outline the eyes.
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my Alexander McQueen makeup I felt the makeup looked neat and the eye application looked even on either side.
I then used my face chart as a guideline to recreate Alexander McQueen's style of makeup.
Firstly I applied an olive coloured foundation from kryolan to my skin and the blended the product into the skin by using my buffer brush Next I contoured my face using a summer tan from my glamour glow pallet and a highlighter from my Illamaqua sculpting powder pallet . Then I applied a turquoise from ym supracolour pallet to the eyelids which I extended up to the brows. Next I used black supracolour to shape my brows and outline my eyes. Finally to complete my look I applied a gloss to my lips.
I feel this style of makeup I don't really feel portrays the use of gothic horror but could explore the use of gothic motif 'time and place' if the character was styled correctly with this makeup and the gothic horror story line told a story about the makeup in the past, I feel the makeup could be developed into portraying gothic horror, which Is our latest topic we are learning.
Here is the photograph of alexander McQueen's style of makeup which I found an inspiration . I really like how the eye application is the main focus of the look and the rest of the makeup has been applied naturally.

Here is a face chart which I created inspired by Gareth Pugh's style of makeup. Firstly I contoured the face using a grey from my kryolan pallet and a white from my glamour glow pallet to act as a highlighter. I then used the same grey to highlight the eyelids. Finally to complete my look I used blue supracolour to shape the brows outline the eyes and apply colour to the lips.
When recreating the Gareth Pugh style of makeup , I used my face chart as a guideline but however used different products to recreate his style of makeup. I firstly applied illamaqua white skin base to my face, neck and ears to make my skin appear pale in order for the style of makeup to work. Once the skin base looked even I then buffed the product into the skin and secured the makeup in place using my Illamasqua loose powder. Then using a metallic blue from a shop brought eye shadow pallet by soap and glory, I contoured my ace and highlighted my eyelids. In order to highlight the lighter areas of my face I used a light colour from my glamour glow pallet to act as a highlighter. Finally to complete my look, I applied blue supracolour to my lips, brows and also used the product to act as an eyeliner.
I was generally quite happy with the outcome of my makeup interpretation by Gareth Pugh, however I found I could have focused on the eye application a little more.
Although this is not the stereotypical gothic horror style of makeup I feel this makeup could work well in a gothic horror series such as The American horror story- the Asylum .
The style of makeup from the 2008 fashion show was the inspiration I used to create a face chart and recreation of his style of makeup. I really like Gareth Pugh's style of makeup I feel the blue against the pale complexion works well together.
