Gothic horror
During Kats lesson we had an introduction to the Mrs Laderman, Quentin and Claudia characters, the character briefs an the 12 TV series to choose from. We also learnt about the attractions to gothic horror .Why do we love gothic horror?
- fascination with death

- we like to be scared
- possibility of salvation
- opportunity to see things that are Tasco
- Affinity with the monster within all of us
- Addressing mans and inhumanity to man
Target audience
The average statistics of men who watch horror movies are 14-35 year olds , and the average statistics of women who watch horror are 18-49 year olds. Over the years the statics of women watching horror movies has increased significantly, why is horror so appealing to women?TV horror series such as the walking dead is a popular horror genre for women. women also like to watch horror movies or TV series where the female character is a heroin for example Buffy the vampire slayer. Another reason as to why women are so intrigued with horror is they like to be scare.

Gothic novel to film
A typical gothic novel, usually explores the use of a hero or heroine, the supernatural, a villain, buildings and atmospheric weather to set the scene. Gothic novels are now being transformed into popular blockbuster movies from the likes of Bram Stokers Dracula made by universal to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. American horror is a new style of horror which has become popular with male and female audiences, it usually incorporates the use of haunted pasts as well as social and political problems . Actresses of the 1960s who were known to have starred in horror were tired of the same old horror roles as a result a new form of gothic was created, incorporating the use of architecture and literature together. The supernatural
The fascination with supernatural is a huge element incorporated into a gothic horror novel, film or TV series , horror would not be complete without it. The supernatural first originated in 1848 in America with the Foxes family. Target Audiences liked the use of a human interfering with the unnatural or prayers or sorcery and also the use of building a bridge between two worlds such as the living and the afterlife.Catherine Spooner and Emma McEnvoy (19/10/07).
